Squirrels

Squirrels: Meet on Saturdays 9.30am to 10.45am

Squirrel Scouts is a place for 4 and 5 year olds to learn new skills and join the fun of Scouts for the very first time. Squirrels meet in a group called a Drey and although we’re the youngest, we’re as much a part of the Scout Group as the Beaver Colony, Cub Pack, and Scout Troop, which means there’s plenty of support and space for each young person to grow.

At Squirrels we get outside and explore. We tell stories and play games and we learn about ourselves and others. And of course, we earn badges just like the older members. Here’s just a few of the things we’ve done recently:

  • Visited our local camp site to learn navigation skills, cook (and eat) mini-pizzas and share a campfire
  • Had a go at mini tomahawks
  • Made bird feeders and took part in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch
  • Made dens – inside and outside
  • Celebrated St George’s day at Christchurch Priory with others from the Scout District
  • Grew cress
  • Tried food from around the world
  • Learned about water safety
  • Played lots of games and heard lots of stories

The badges we can achieve enable us to become a Brilliant Builder, carry out some Exciting Experiments, Go Wild, Be Active, Explore Outdoors, Get Creative, meet a Local Superhero, and enjoy Story Time.
