Cubs
Cubs: Meet on Tuesdays 6:30 to 8:00
The aim of our Cub Pack is to give the children the opportunity to enjoy new adventures and grow in confidence, while making friends and having fun along the way! One of their challenges is a commitment to work towards activity badges – there are over thirty badges they can achieve. We currently have a good mixture of both boys and girls in our Pack. We work closely with the Cubs and their parents. Parents, grandparents and helpers are encouraged to take an active role in both our weekly meetings and our weekend activities – everyone is welcome to join the fun! We enjoy a varied programme of activities which help the children to grow in confidence and learn new skills. These include:
- Camping at local scout camp sites – including Bragger’s Wood in Bransgore
- Playing games
- Exploring the outdoors
- Trying adventurous activities – including climbing, kayaking and archery
- Meeting people from their local community
- Experiencing the culture of other countries
- Keeping themselves and others safe
- Learning to work as part of a team
Here’s what some of our cubs think… “Cubs makes me learn cool stuff, there are challenges and new friends.” “Being a Cub means lots of fun, great camps and doing amazing stuff!” “I like playing games like dodgeball at Cubs, as well as getting badges, doing camps and going on days out.” We have a private online area called My.Scout which enables you to see how your Cub is progressing with their badges. This area also allows you to see the programme for the term, as well as sending you invitations to upcoming events (such as camps or hikes) by email.
